Bleaching (Tooth Whitening)

Bleaching (Teeth Whitening)

Tooth whitening is the process of removing the exterior colorings of the teeth with the help of chemical bleaching agents that are safe for the teeth.

Teeth Whitening Methods

  • Whitening is a light-assisted procedure performed in the dentist’s office under his or her supervision. A bleaching chemical with a higher concentration is utilized. Higher concentrations are used for speedier whitening services. The results are visible right away. In 3-7 days, two treatments are applied. It takes 30 minutes for each session.
  • Home whitening is a method of whitening teeth performed at home using translucent plaques custom-made by a dentist for the patient’s mouth. A bleaching chemical with a lesser concentration is used. It is used every night for a week, and the results are obtained later because to the reduced concentration. If the whitening agent is to be used during the day, it should be applied for 8 hours; if it is to be applied at night, it should be applied for 8 hours, If you’re going to use it at night, leave it on for four hours. It’s best to use it at night because saliva production is lower and it doesn’t interfere with everyday activities. Office-type whitening is faster, but the concentration is more likely to induce high sensitivity.

Can anyone get their teeth whitened?

Anyone can have their teeth whitened except in the following circumstances;

  • Internal colorization (antibiotic coloration, fluoride, and so on) prevents teeth whitening.
  • Teeth whitening with a gray tint will not work.
  • On the surfaces of enamel dysplasia and enamel flaws, teeth whitening is not possible at specific spots.
  • If there is enamel breaking on the teeth’s surfaces, they should be addressed first, followed by whitening.

Is Teeth Whitening A Permanent Solution?

Tooth whitening is not a permanent procedure since teeth are directly exposed to the foods and drinks consumed. If the doctor’s suggestions for staying away from coloring liquids (coffee, tea, smoking, etc.) are followed after teeth whitening, teeth whiteness will last for a longer time. If at all feasible, these colorant beverage-foods should be avoided or consumed in moderation.

Will The Procedure Of Teeth Whitening Damage My Teeth?

The teeth whitening procedure performed under the supervision of a dentist does not harm the enamel. The doctor’s instructions should always be followed during and after the teeth whitening procedure.
