Zirconium – Empress Crowns

Zirconium – Empress Crowns

Rowns (porcelain veneers) are used when fillings are not possible due to significant tooth destuction. Porcelain crowns, such as empress or zirconium veneers, are accessible for more aesthetic uses.

    • Empress crowns are constructed by putting porcelain to the bottom of the porcelain as a substructure. Empress crowns are more aesthetically pleasing and have a smaller profile than normal crowns (metal-reinforced crowns). However, because they are more delicate, they should only be used for anterior restorations.

    • The use of zirconium material as a supporting framework under porcelain is known as zirconium crowns. Metal-reinforced crowns are more aesthetically pleasing. They are not, however, as thin as empress crowns. As a result, zirconium restorations can be used in the posterior area as well as in the building of porcelain bridges.
