Rhinoplasty

What Is It?

Rhinoplasty, sometimes known as a nose job, is a procedure that aims to improve the appearance of the nose. Rhinoplasty is the most common plastic surgery procedure. Rhinoplasty can be used to increase or decrease the size of the nose. It is possible to alter the tip of the nose. It is possible to correct a bridge on the nose. Rhinoplasty might help you breathe better if you have a breathing problem. A change in the shape of the nose can dramatically transform and improve the appearance of the face. The most critical aspect is that the nose looks natural after the procedure. *Rhinoplasty can be done beyond the age of 18. It is not recommended to have it before the completion of bone development. For this procedure, there is no upper age limit. It can be done in the elderly if the patient’s general condition is satisfactory.

WHO NEEDS RHINOPLASTY?

RHINOPLASTY IN TURKEY: ANESTHESIA METHOD

  • Local Anesthesia
  • General Anesthesia (It is preferable for the patient’s and doctor’s comfort.)

BEFORE THE RHINOPLASTY SURGERY IN TURKEY

  • Aspirin and blood thinners should be avoided for 10 days before the operation.
  • Smoking should be halted a week before the operation since it can cause more swelling and bleeding during and after the procedure.

HOW IS IT PERFORMED?

Closed (No Scar) Rhinoplasty: In closed rhinoplasty, incisions are made from inside the nostrils, so there are no visible scars. The interior of the nose is stitched with dissolvable stitches that are not removed.

Open Rhinoplasty: In open rhinoplasty, an incision is made between the two nostrils (columella) and the skin is elevated. The surgery is then completed, and the wound is closed. Only a small scar between the nostrils remains as a result of procedure, and it fades away in 1-2 months. *In Turkey, the rhinoplasty method used is determined by the shape of the patient’s nose and the approach preferred by the practitioner. The bones that make up the nose are broken and/or rubbed, and cartilages are cut, removed, thinned, and sometimes added during rhinoplasty surgery. Tools like osteotom and rasp are utilized for medical intervention on the nose. Certain portions of the nose can be fitted with cartilages if necessary. The septum, ears, and ribs are all good places to get these cartilages. In such circumstances, the patient is informed before to the procedure.

  • Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty (Piezo Rhinoplasty): Ultrasonic technique (Piezo technique) is used. Piezoelectricity ultrasonic surgery equipment uses ultrasonic waves to cut bone and hard cartilage tissue. The ultrasonic waves used in the piezo rhinoplasty procedure only affect bone and hard cartilage tissue; they do not hurt soft tissues such as mucous membranes, arteries, or nerves. As a result, aesthetic success increases, and bruising, swelling, and redness are less noticeable following ultrasonic rhinoplasty surgery. Although ultrasonic surgery (Piezo surgery) is commonly used in open rhinoplasty, it is more challenging in close rhinoplasty because instruments cannot easily reach the targeted area.

  • Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty: This method allows us to correct some imperfections on the nose using filling materials, suspension sutures and laser. Recently, liquid rhinoplasty is very popular among patients. Through this method, droopy nasal tips can be lifted, low or bumpy bridges, asymmetrical nostrils and small defects resulting from a nasal surgery can all be corrected. This method enables us to fix various flaws in the nose using filling materials, suspension sutures, and a laser. Liquid rhinoplasty has recently become quite popular among patients. Droopy nasal tips, low or bumpy bridges, misaligned nostrils, and tiny deformities caused by nasal surgery can all be addressed using this procedure. This method does not allow for nose reduction because it necessitates a surgical operation. A non-surgical nose job isn’t a long-term fix. Because the nose may revert to its original shape after a period of time, the process must be repeated. A reversible nose job is preferred by certain individuals. A mix of non-surgical and surgical procedures, as well as the use of local anesthetic, can sometimes produce excellent results.

  • Video-Endoscopic Rhinoplasty: The operation is performed  by using an intranasal image captured by a camera with a diameter of 1-2 mm and presented on a screen.
  •
  • Nasal Tip-Plasty: It is the reshaping of the tip of the nose. Sometimes the only issue is with the tip of the nose, which can be repaired with surgery without the need for other procedures.
